He also continues to work with trainer Jun Agrabio, Sampson Boxing stablemate and fellow former world champion John Riel Casimero, and strength and conditioning coach Angel Heredia.
Sonsona was ranked second by the WBC, fifth by the WBA, fourth by the IBF and 12th by the WBO. The match against Velez (ranked third by the WBC) is the final elimination where the winner will face champion Jhonny Gonzalez.
