  • Richmond, BC – A feast of international flavours will fill the bellies of crowds at the Richmond World Festival. The new free festival happens Saturday, September 5 in Richmond’s beautiful Minoru Park and is presented by Coast Capital Savings.

Food, music, dance, sports and culture will all be part of the day’s fun, including headline performances by dynamic duo and festival circuit favourites Matt and Kim and Grammy winning Alex Cuba.

“The Richmond World Festival emulates the true Canadian multicultural spirit and we are excited to be a part of this inaugural community event,” says Maureen Young, Acting Director, Community Leadership, Coast Capital Savings. “From the food to the entertainment to the vendors who will be on site, this is a perfect cross section of the Lower Mainland and specifically Richmond. What an amazing way to bring our community together – from young to old – and celebrate who we are.”

Fuelling the day-long festivities will be the FEASTtival of Flavours, an international food truck smorgasbord. More than 35 of the region’s most popular food trucks will feature ethnic specialties from nations around the globe. Take your tastebuds on a trek through Asia from Taiwan to China, Vietnam and India. Do Europe with food choices from Greece, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Germany and Russia. Warm up with offerings from Fiji, the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Middle East. And, of course, there’ll be plenty of North American staples on the menus, from First Nations fare to BeaverTails pastry and kettle corn.

The Richmond World Festival is produced by the City of Richmond. Community partners are Port Metro Vancouver, Cowell Auto Group, Richmond Centre and Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Media sponsors are Global TV, the Georgia Straight, 102.7 The Peak, Z95.3, Richmond News and Miss 604.
