RCVM REDEFINES PRESIDENT-ELECT TRAINING SEMINAR

  • The Rotary President Elect Training Seminar (PETS) is designed to provide essential and current information to incoming Club Presidents in order to prepare them to have an effective and successful year. Presidents-elect gather together to hear addresses by top Rotary leaders and motivational speakers, attend small group discussion sessions on various topics lead by knowledgeable and experienced discussion leaders, and network and exchange ideas with 50 other Presidents-Elect from different Rotary Clubs in British Columbia. In the previous years, this training has always been held in-person in conference halls in scenic locations.

This year’s PETS which was supposed to be held in Seattle was converted to Zoom Virtual training due to Covid-19 Restrictions. Rotary Club of Mountainview’s 2022-2023 President-Elect Via Fearnley, instead of just viewing the training in her home by herself, decided to share the PETS Fellowship Night on Zoom with the rest of RCVM members. Thus, last Friday February 18th, RCVM Rotarians gathered in full force in Grandt Kitchen Filipino Restaurant in Central Surrey to celebrate the formal training of Via Fearnley in preparation for her presidency that will start on July 1, 2022. In her speech, President-Elect Via echoed the Rotary theme on her term entitled ‘IMAGINE ROTARY’ which she hopes will be depicted in various service projects that she will spearhead that will benefit the Vancouver community. President Via mentioned that Incoming Rotary International President Jennifer Jones,  is distinguished as the first female to hold such position in this worldwide service organization and is also a proud Canadian.  The dinner was followed by a night of fellowship with RCVM members singing and dancing the night away.
