  • CBC Vancouver’s Virtual Open House and Food Bank Day Raises Over $2 million dollars
VANCOUVER – The giving spirit was stronger than ever this weekend as British Columbians donated to food banks across B.C. for CBC Vancouver’s annual Open House and Food Bank Day. The virtual event raised $2,078,937 for local food banks as of today with donations open until the end of the month.

CBC hosts and special guests Stephen Quinn, Angela Sterritt, Anita Bathe, Dan Burritt, Karin Larsen, Andi Petrillo and Canadian figure skater Patrick Chan held meet and greet sessions, engaging in lively discussions with the public. CBC British Columbia had special programming throughout the day highlighting stories about the impact of food banks across B.C.

“I am inspired and humbled by the generosity of British Columbians in the midst of a very tumultuous year. We have seen communities come together in times of need and it is amazing what we can achieve,” says Johnny Michel, senior managing director, CBC British Columbia and Alberta. “Thank you to everyone who donated because you have made a direct difference in the lives of fellow British Columbians.”

For 35 years, British Columbians have been donating to food banks at CBC/Radio-Canada’s annual Open House and Food Bank Day, raising more than $15 million for food banks in B.C. since its inception in 1986. The public can continue to donate to their local food bank at cbc.ca/foodbankday until the end of the month
