  • bambooThe distinctly recognizable vocals of rock icon Bamboo Manalac has always been associated to Pinoy rock trademark “Awit ng Kabataan,” “ CIlan” and “Himala”—where Mañalac became a rock icon back in his Rivermaya days in 1993. After 5 years staying in the CIS, Mañalac returned to the Philippines and eventually formed the rock band Bamboo. The group gave us rock anthems “Noypi”, “Hallelujah,” “Masaya” and “Tatsulok”.

In 2011, the band Bamboo called it quits and the frontman’s creativity defines beyond his boundaries. Mañalac followed his muse and led him to the release of his solo album called NO WATER, NO MOON released under Bamboo’s (the band) home label, Polyeast Records (EMI Phillipines).

Producing chart-topping hits that made his comeback as one of the most anticipated albums of 2011, his solo album NO WATER, NO MOON produced the singles “Questions” “Spin”, Ikot ng Mundo”, “In This Life.” and the latest single ”Carousel” (included in NO WATER NO MOON repackaged) The same album gave him another taste of victory at the 25th Awit Awards for the Best Performance by a Male Recording Artist award for his song “Questions.”

Marking his own name from a band’s frontman to a solo act is no easy feat. That did not stop Mañalac’s ambitious resolve to conjure up a new and eclectic set. Teamed with some of the top musicians in the music industry like Ria Osorio, Kakoy Legaspi, Jun Jun Regalado, Bong Gonzales and Simon Tan— Mañalac is now a regular performer at the ABS CBN’s Sunday concert show ASAP and a mentor/judge for the THE VOICE of the Philippines, and THE VOICE KIDS Bamboo Mañalac is also the brand ambassador of GlobeTattoo@Home, Sennheiser International and Sony Headphones.
