  • It took them three tries, but the De La Salle University Lady Spikers finally had their archrivals’ numbers.

The Lady Spikers proved that the Finals is a different beast as they disposed the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles, 21-25, 29-27, 25-22, 25-20, in Game One of the UAAP 79 women’s volleyball tournament finals at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Tuesday.

La Salle shrugged off a first set meltdown with team captain Kim Fajardo orchestrating the defending champion’s offense.

Tin Tiamzon led the Lady Spikers with 15 points.

The Lady Eagles swept La Salle in the elimination round scoring two four-set victories.

Game Two will be on Saturday at the same venue.(L. Siykioco, PS)
