Skye, the daughter of current Metro Ice Skating Club president Smith Chua, bested five other participants in the Basic Novice Subgroup A Girls Group 5 category, winning the gold with a final total score of 40.69.
“Thank you Lord for the blessings! After the last day of competition. Skye Chua got first in her group” posted the proud father on Facebook, October 7, 2015. Her nearest opponent was Yu Jing Zhao of China who ended up with a total score of 32.63 while Jennifer Taniti of Indonesia came in third with 28.35.
Other participants for the category include Thitirat SAMADCHAI of Thailand (27.88), Sophia Ming COPP of Hongkong (25.48) and Jing Yi ZHOU of China (19.66). But it wasn’t Chua who struck gold alone.
Other skaters who churned out successful stints and won the gold medal in the respective categories include Amanda Sophie Hernandez (Basic Juvenile Girls), Kate Orrock (Basic Pre Novice), Ann Cathryn Lagemann (Basic Pre-Novice Girls), Diane Gabrielle Panlilio (Basic Novice Subgroup A Girls) and Emee Marjorie Dy (Basic Junior Ladies).(B.
