    Drawing thousands of revelers each year, Pinoy Fiesta: Unang Hirit sa Tag-init is once again sets to take Vancouver by storm on August 9th (Sunday). The celebration will be held at Memorial

    South Park along 41st Avenue and Windsor Street, Vancouver from 10:00am to 9:00pm.

    Filipino community is the third largest and the fastest growing minority in Canada, but Filipinos are still very much underrepresented culturally and politically. However the annual celebration of Pinoy Fiesta which has grown each year in size and numbers of participants helps focus a positive spotlight on the community.

    With the hard work and commitment of the Hirit organizers, Pinoy Fiesta is now one of the biggest and the most anticipated Filipino cultural events in British Columbia. This celebration is
    attended annually by various community organizations, leaders, business owners, dignitaries, politicians and elected officials from all levels of government Jojo Quimpo, the founding chairman, is proud of the monumental success of Pinoy Fiesta. His vision to unite the Filipino community to showcase the beautiful Philippine culture and heritage to all Canadians, and to show the unified strength of the community has now become a reality.

    The organizers promise that Pinoy Fiesta celebration will be fun and vibrant that will make the Filipino community proud. Free to the public, this year’s festival will again feature two colorful events:
    Paradang Pinoy on the grounds of Memorial South Park will showcase world-renowned Filipino festivals such as Ati-atihan, Sinulog, Masskara, Dinagyang etc. Various organizations will display colorful costumes while dancing to the beat of drums and Filipino music.

    The Fiesta Extravaganza will showcase various aspects of Filipino culture. There will be trade exhibits, crafts and food vendors offering Filipino themed cuisine and wares to the public. There will be a daylong entertainment featuring popular local artists, bands, singers, dancers and cultural group performers. Headlining the celebration is the popular GMA Kapuso artist an multitalented Solenn Heussaff.

    So ano pa ang hinihintay nyo. Come and join the fun. Hirit na Pinoy! Pagsama sama masaya. Pagsama sama, kayang kaya. Be proud to be Pinoy-Canadian!
