Pinoy killed in cycling accident; Fundraising for family going on

  • Ronald was only 37 years old when he passed away.  He leaves behind his loving wife, Nie-Ann Amante, their young sons Rainier (9) and Rhyan (6), and their nearly 3 month old baby girl, Reanna.  Ronald was a very caring, involved, and devoted father.  Sadly, he also leaves his mother, siblings, and their families.  He is greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

Ronald was a very kind-hearted, humble, and hard-working man.  While he held three jobs to financially support his family, he always made time to spend with his wife and children.  Born in the Philippines, he was also active in the Filipino-Canadian community and was a founding member of Migrante BC, a volunteer-run, grassroots advocacy organization for migrant workers.  He also started the first Migrante BC Men’s Basketball League, which became a fun annual event over the past 6 years .  Not only did Ronald love basketball, he was also an avid cyclist.  The last photos of Ronald, taken of him by a friend, were of him in his riding gear with his bike.

Ronald loved his wife and children very much and had high hopes and dreams for his children in Canada.  When Reanna was born a few months ago, he was so happy and proud, and he felt his family was complete.  Unfortunately, Nie-Ann had serious complications after the birth and has had health problems since then and is still recovering.  But Ronald didn’t hesitate he stepped in to help with taking the boys to school, making meals, driving Nie-Ann to medical appointments at the hospital and many other tasks that needed doing.

Ronald was also the sole income-earner of the family.  Nie-Ann is unable to work and is very worried about how she will be able to afford to maintain the family home and to pay for car and general life expenses, including groceries, clothing, and diapers.  She is also concerned about the children’s future education expenses.

This is a very difficult time for the grieving Ordinario family, especially for the children who will grow up without their father. We are friends and part of the school community of Nie-Ann and the Ordinario family and ask that you please help support them by making a donation and sharing this page with others so that they may donate if they can as well.  Any amount would really be greatly appreciated.  All monies donated will go directly to Nie-Ann to enable her to pay for daily, family living expenses, to take care of and raise her children, and to provide for the children’s education as they grow up.
