Concepcion of Tri-City ANCOP coordinator shared about some curious individuals who lined up to make their voluntary donation for the cause. The event was able to tap people who would like to be involved in this similar effort of uplifting the poor.

Alwin Yambao, CFC – Vancouver ANCOP Head did an excellent job in making things happen along with the leadership of CFC Chapter coordinators. Spotted presence of Consul General Neil Frank R. Ferrer with wife and politicians like Jojo Quimpo, a Filipino-Canadian Conservative Party Candidate in Vancouver-Kingway with a heart to contribute to the recipients of funds generated by the event. Yes, making dreams into reality for thousand Filipinos living in poverty in their own native land. Everyone has a right to dream and as Christians, we are called to share and contribute to these dreams for others not just of our own.

Recent Broadway Musical show at the Hyatt,Vancouver featured the song entitled, ”Any Dream Will Do”. Here is the first stanza of the song:
I closed my eyes, Drew back the curtain To see for certain What I thought I knew Far, Far Away Someone was weepingBut the world was sleeping Any Dream Will Do. This popular song voted Broadway Song of the Year in 1981 from the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The song describes man’s journey in facing life uncertainties. Dreaming is a state in mind to create better. It has become a motivating approach and a stepping stone to make a positive change in life.

ANCOP, which stands for Answering the Cry of the Poor, was once upon a time a dream for more than three decades. Today, ANCOP is a dream come true for those who are ‘weeping’ because of poverty. On the other hand, it is the answer to the challenging call for an internationally organized group called Couples for Christ (CFC) to consolidate its effort in BUILDING THE CHURCH OF THE POOR. It is a dream to make Christ teachings’ to work among His people to uplift the lives of poor by empowering them through education, self- sufficiency and respect.

Impossible it may seem, with unceasing prayers and strong determination to make things possible, the dream has been realized and now becomes a reality for Filipinos who are struggling and almost had reached to a point of being alone in the darkness of being hopeless.

ANCOP Walk 2015 marked the global effort of awareness and action of building the church of the poor through ANCOP WALK, an annual global fundraising event that raises funds for the poor in the Philippines and other third world countries. The funds go toward providing shelter, housing and education programs for the poor living in extreme poverty.
