Boni Barcia hosted a summer party at his Coquitlam residence, which saw leading figures with the ruling B.C. NDP government rubbing elbows with members of the Filipino community.
Among those in attendance at the August 28, 2022 bash was David Eby, presumed frontrunner in the race to become the next New Democrat leader and Premier of B.C.
Also present was Health Minister Adrian Dix, a longtime friend of Barcia.
The well-attended bash highlights the growing strength of the Filipino community in politics.
Barcia, who is a former vice president of the Health Employees’ Union, said that the community has earned its rightful place in the province’s political life.
