  • VICTORIA – Sa Hunyo 1, 2022, ang workers sa B.C. na may pinakamababang suweldo ay makakakuha ng pay boost; ang general minimum wage na $15.20 bawat oras ay tataas at magiging $15.65.

    Tinutupad ng Province ang pangako nito noong 2020 na itaas at gawing $15 bawat oras ang minimum wage sa pamamagitan ng masusukat at predictable na pagtaas, at itatali nito ang mga pagtaas sa suweldo sa darating na panahon sa rate of inflation. Ang minimum wage sa B.C. ay kasalukuyan na ngayong pinakamataas sa lahat ng provinces sa Canada.

    “Ang B.C. ay dating may isa sa pinakamababang minimum wages sa bansa bago noong 2017, bagamat ito ay isa sa pinakamahal na lugar na titirahan,” sabi ni Harry Bains, ang Minister of Labour. “Ayaw naming maiwan ang aming workers na tumatanggap ng pinakamababang suweldo. Ang mga pagtaas ng minimum wage na nakatali sa inflation ay bahagi ng aming plano na magtatag ng ekonomiyang gumagana para sa lahat.”

Sa nakaraang limang taon, ang general minimum wage sa B.C. ay tumaas mula $11.35 at naging $15.65 bawat oras.     Ang darating na pagtaas ng minimum wage upang maging $15.65 bawat oras ay ang unang pagtaas na nakatali sa karaniwang inflation rate bawat taon sa British Columbia.     Simula Hunyo 1, may pagtaas na 2.8% ang aaplay rin sa live-in camp leader at live-in home support worker minimum daily wages, at sa resident caretaker minimum monthly wage.

    At simula Enero 1, 2023, may pagtaas na 2.8% ang aaplay sa minimum piece rates para sa hand harvesting ng 15 takdang crops sa agricultural sector; kabilang dito ang peaches, apricots, Brussels sprouts, daffodils, mushrooms, apples, beans, blueberries, cherries, grapes, pears, peas, prune plums, raspberries, at strawberries.
