  • Kapamilyas dominated the 2009 Catholic Mass Media Awards held Wednesday night, bagging a total of eleven awards including two Hall of Famers. ABS-CBN received most recognitions for the televisions categories namely Best Drama Series for top-rating series “May Bukas Pa” and “Tayong Dalawa;” Best News Magazine for “Wonder Mom”; Best Special Event Cover­age forg “Kidnap”; Best Business News or Feature for ANC’s “Start Up”; Best TV Special for “Kwento ng mga Peligrino” ; and Best News Program for ABS-CBN Baguio’s TV Patrol Northern Luzon.

    drama-series (2)In the radio categories, DZMM reaped awards for its various programs at commercial such as “MMK sa DZMM” for Best Drama Program; “Radyo Patrol Balita Alas Syete” for Best News Program, “Pasada Sais Trenta” for Best News and Commentary Program, “Sikap Pinoy” for Best Business News or Feature, and Best Radio Ad for its values cam­paign.

    Meanwhile, “Sports Unlimited” hosted by Dyan Castillejo and Marc Nelson made it to the CMMA Hall of Fame for winning Best Sports Program for three con­secutive years, as well as DZMM’s “Radyo Negosyo” for Best Radio Business News or Feature.

    This is the first time DZMM entered the prestigious Hall of Fame.
    A special award, on the other hand, was given by Manila Arch­bishop Gaudencio Cardinal Ro­sales for primetime drama “May Bukas Pa” which was personally accepted by miracle boy him­self, Zaijian “Santino” Jaranilla, together with the fathers of Brgy. Pag-Asa.

    ABS-CBN Cebu’s “Sidewalk” program was also awarded a ci­tation for Best Educational Pro­gram for radio. The CMMA is an award giv­ing body that honors media practitioners in the field of televi­sion, radio, and music who have promoted basic human values through their works.
