KAPAMILYA leading men Coco Martin and Cebuano native Richard Yap were named this year’s Best Actors in the recently concluded 27th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television. Held Sunday evening at the AFP Theater in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, the awards night recognized the best shows and performances on television this year. Martin won for his performance in primetime series “Juan dela Cruz” while Yap bagged the trophy for morning program “Be Careful With My Heart.”

Meanwhile, Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera personally accepted her Best Actress trophy for television series “Temptation of Wife.” She thanked her fans for their support. Showbiz royalty KC Concepcion, on the other hand, received her first acting trophy as she was named Best Drama Supporting Actress for “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.” Concepcion said it’s a night for her to remember as she went head-to-head for the trophy with the brightest stars and seasoned actresses of show business.

It was also an emotional evening for both Arjo Atayde and Aaron Villaflor as their hard work paid off when their names were called for the Best Drama Supporting Actor award. Atayde won for afternoon series “Dugong Buhay” while Villaflor took home the trophy for “Juan dela Cruz.” Rival networks ABS-CBN Channel 2 and GMA-7 tied as Star Awards’ Best Television Station for 2013.

Aside from the winners, producer and director Kitchie Benedicto was awarded this year’s Ading Fernando Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution in the world of Philippine television.
Benedicto, who has 45 years of experience in the business, worked opposite the biggest names in the industry, such as Sharon Cuneta, Vilma Santos, and Nora Aunor. She also trained top TV executive like Wilma Galvante (TV5), Cory Vidanes, Johnny Manahan and Charo Santos-Concio of ABSCBN.

Meanwhile, broadcast journalist Rey Langit was awarded the Excellence in Broadcasting trophy. The 27th PMPC Star Awards for Television was hosted by Richard and Raymond Gutierrez with Gonzaga sisters Alex and Toni.(G. Jarloc, sunstar)
