  • Edu Manzano believes his son Luis Manzano is ready for politics in case the ABS-CBN TV host- actor decides to run for public office in 2016. “My son is ready for anything,” Edu told members of the press during the Wonderful World of Globe event recently.

There have been reports that Luis is eyeing politics. The “Deal or No Deal” host said in a previous interview: ““Sabi ko nga, one foot is in yes, one foot is in no. The question is which foot moves to the other side.”

Edu, who served as Makati vice mayor in 1998 to 2001 and was head of the Optical Media Board from 2004 to 2009, said he allows his children “to do whatever they want to do.” However, he cautions: “Ang sinasabi ko lang kasi, may kapalit yan. Kung ikaw magiging public servant, may kapalit.”

The TV host-actor believes a showbiz personality who would enter politics should “take time out” from TV and movie work “to serve the people.

    “It’s a calling, e,” he said.

Edu said he will support Luis “if he feels it’s time to serve.”

But he added, “But then again, hindi rin maganda na tatakbo ka sa posisyon ang makikita ka araw-araw na nasa telebisyon.”

Meanwhile, Edu returns to acting as he is slated to be part of an upcoming ABS-CBN soap opera.

The veteran actor said he missed doing TV shows and movies. He had a part in the recently-released Star Cinema movie “Halik sa Hangin.”

He’s nervous and excited for his comeback for his first soap opera in several years.

“Ngayon, wala nang superstar. Lahat kayo pare-pareho. The stars arrive on time, they know their lines. Dati-rati, ang pelikula ay naka-angkla sa isang artista. Ngayon, hindi na. It’s the production, it’s the story, it’s the director,” he said. “I’m looking forward to acting again.”

Edu talked to members of the press during the launch of the Hooq, a video-on-demand mobile service that will allow Globe Telecom subscribers to watch movies and TV shows online and offline via various devices.

“It’s a step in the right direction,” he said. “This is one way of giving access sa lahat ng manonood. At the same time, may bagong revenue generator ngayon lahat ng producers. So maaari silang maenggayo ngayon na mag-produce ng mas maraming programa at mga pelikula.” (C. Smith, PS)
