  • odysseoUnbelievable is a word used when only a one of a kind event takes hold. Words fail to do justice to the magnificent presentation known as Odysseo. Fresh from the creative minds who brought British Columbians Cavalia a few years back this new production even ups the entertainment value of this continuing saga. Whether you saw the first epic called Cavalia or not there’s something for everyone with Odysseo, shining bright under the big top at False Creek just off West 2nd Avenue in Vancouver.

Our show revolves around the wonder of horses. Told over a 2 1/2 hour time slot under a huge white tent with a 30 minute intermission to catch your breath your eyes and senses will be amazed at the phenomenal staging and choreography that unfolds on stage.

67 horses of all stripes from all corners of the world somehow are able in unison to connect with each other, their loving trainers and audiences as they set out on a simply dazzling display of poise and beauty. People of all ages will simply marvel at the breathtaking beauty of the animals who are as gentle as can be. Whether striding along in complete circles to  the subliminal tune of magical pied pipers (i.e their loving trainers) or shaking hooves as in a how are you greeting or doing fancy two-step cross-overs in perfect rhythm you will be simply amazed at all the goings-on.

As if watching these sleek animals behave almost like humans isn’t grand enough the producers have further ramped up the fun with 10 sleek and fit never get tired diminutive acrobats who will summersault and stilt walk their way into your hearts. Immensely appealing Act 2 includes high flying acrobats with girls in trapeze and paired high flying hoopsters ascending the stage with billowing sheets atop slow moving horses. Wow. What a beautiful sight to behold.

Technology plays a nice role in this slick show. Through a technological miracle a giant screen backdrop gives off the effect of changing seasons, different weather patterns and a variety of majestic landscapes. However they mount the stage it seems that the horses and acrobats are coming from a distance way back yonder towards you and back in a truly impressive manner. Add on a watery lake free for the horses  to play in, sizzling trick riding with passengers going backwards, standing and even going under a horse with other riders stationary atop two horses at once a la a Ben Hur chariot moment and Odysseo simply soars to unbelievable heights.

Told with magnificent style and finesse this posh show further will massage all your senses with a mesmerizing musical accompaniment that perfectly reels you in. Dazzle, wonder and total fulfillment await all lucky people fortunate to experience this true wonder of the creative world.

Only here until Jan. 26 Odysseso makes a perfect treat and the ultimate gift experience as it combines animals with Cirque du Soleil thrills. For tickets or more information on Odysseo go to www.Cavalia. net or call 1-866-999-8111
