  • matchmakerAble to bridge that age old generation gap is A Brimful of Asha. Smart on all counts and wickedly funny, this two person play is truly a tour de farce. Done in conjunction with The Arts Club Theatre and the growing Push Festival this must see show is now holding court at the Arts Club Revue Stage on fabled Granville Island.

Ninety minutes flies buoy in a flash as we first meet up with the young , well mmaybe not so young Ravi Jain and his mom Asha. Yes these two are a real mother and son team. Even before the start of the show we attended you can feel the warmth as guests were treated to some sample samosas that were actually given out by the two stars of the show. Talk about good PR. Don’t expect to get this special treatment at each show – instead you’ll be treated to a sweet and tender presentation of the IPA and downs of a family when a son is facing manhood.

Without question the biggest decision a person faces, whether ought or old, is whether to get married. Here we have the delightful comical woes of a mother (and off stage dad) trying to marry off their son naturally the young man Ravi won’t have any part of it. From Toronto to exotic India we go as a potential arranged marriage or two plays havoc between the mother and son. Culture figures prominently in this tug of war for your hearts as both parties to this warm-hearted “dispute” turn to the audience for other timely advice. Warmth and love radiate throughout this joyous event. Only here until February 8 this is a live show full of life and comedy.
