The Other Woman (PG) ** Scorned Woman!

other-womanNever cheat on your spouse. Infidelity leads to a battle royal in The Other Woman. Right for the times this dark comedy from 20th Century Fox is trying to reel customers in to Cineplex Odeon Theatres across the British Columbian landscape. Modern times lead to modern problems for one not so happily married clan. Stay at home wife Kate King does what she can but something is missing in her relationship to hot shot yuppy Mark. Versatile actress Leslie Mann ( The 40 Year Old Virgin) is at her comic best  as the neglected spouse while the man with the long name Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is at his conniving best.

Nothing good often comes from cheaters or liars and the odd woman or two fall prey to Mark’s charm. Cameron Diaz ( There’s Something About Mary) sizzles as a smoking hot object of Mark’s affection while the much younger Kate Upton also gets in on the action.

Women obviously are this movie’s target market and there are some hilarious bits to be sure. Physical humour is something Ms. Mann does well and here she’s at her madcap best. Efforts to show the actual indiscretions work some of the time while other gags fall short. Veteran actor Don Johnson starts showing his age as an oldster caught up In The strained messed up relationships of these diverse ladies. 109 minutes whizzes by under the direction of Nick Cassavetes who is let down by a fairly lame script that restrains some otherwise talented actors.
