  • grand-seductionFor a change the Canadian landscape gets good exposure inThe Grand Seduction. Don’t let the title of this charming romp from EOne Entertainment fool you – little sexiness is on display here. Instead there is a slow-building realization by the central character and the town folk who try to reel him In. Do enjoy this catch of the day at Vancouver’s Fifth Avenue Cinemas.

Seafarers and those into coastal living will immediately bond with the idyllic setting For The Grand Seduction. Home to these Maritimers is Tickle Cove. Sure to tickle your fancy are the quirky folk who make up this quaint little village. Talk about a group of misfits.

Down on their luck are the inhabitants who include a hapless mayor, a nerdish banker and a rather conniving Murray French. Right at home as Mr. French is Brendan Gleeson who fashions a plan to convince an oil company to build a plant nearby. To make the deal work the small community must find a doctor as part of the deal.
Since no one locally has the right qualifications the community devises a secret plan to entrap Dr. Lewis. Fresh from The city handsome Taylor Kitsch does look like a fish out of water. Fun here is supplied by the absurd lengths the townsfolk go to hide the truth from the good physician.

Warm charm and a small town environment is brilliantly depicted by Director Don McKellan in this wonderful feeling of Canadiana. Gorgeous cinematography and relaxed performance including the strong presence of Gordon Pinsent help turn The Grand Seduction into a memorable treat.
