  • sin-cityDecidedly different but no less entertaining is the latest effort from EOne Entertainment suitably titled Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Die For. Prepare to be taken to a dark new world. Check out these rather offbeat characters at Cineplex Odeon Theatres around B.C.

Taken from the graphic novels of cult phenom Frank Miller the second in what promises to be a series of Sin City movies delights in the underbelly of society. Yes, the people that inhabit this wacky world are indeed hard-boiled.

Women mix with strip clubs, gambling and a host of unsavoury characters. This time out we really have three different story lines that ultimately come together with a woman or two the centrepiece. Yes, it helps to have see the first Sin City as people for the original find themselves in more trouble.

Not to trot gambler Joseph Gordon-Levett seems possessed to win at the tables while dancing phenom Jessica Alba just wants to avenge her former confidante, shown in flashbacks to be Bruce Willis. Caught in the middle of this crossfire of corruption is Powers Boothe as a conniving Senator and Josh Brolin as a loner/loser entrapped and fixated on a beautiful woman played buoyantly by Eva Green (Casino Royale).

Muscle and flesh is in abundance here as dark-edged fantasy come to life in impressive work from Dennis Haysbert as an enforcer and Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler) as a friend in need. Sexy and brutal this 106 minute opus is a real eye- opener not for the timid.

Fear the night and the crazy commotion served up by Robert Rodriguez in this dazzling look at the wild side of life.
