Dracula Untold (PG) *** Beastly!

Family means everything. Or so it should. Dangerous deeds set in the late fifteenth century In Eastern Europe lay the groundwork for an epic struggle in Dracula Untold. Yes the man with the fangs is back and Universal studios has got him. Catch all the excitement at Cineplex Odeon arenas in B.C. Still left standing.

Dark and handsome is our prince of the day Vlad. Elegance and conviction pour through the timely veins of Luke Evans, a man destined to do everything to safeguard his people from a marauding Turkish emperor called Mehmed. Pure evil emotions have become commonplace for actor Dominic Cooper who continues to impress. Lots of baggage over the years has built up between Vlad and Mehmed with a final confrontation at the ready.

Take this all in with a big grain of salt. Director Gary Shore gives us lots of the Dracula legend and spruces it up with solid special effects. Hammy lines, great armed battles and tense times make Dracula Untold 91 minutes of horrific fun that relies more on character development than shock effects to make its point. Bite-sized fun indeed awaits you.
